A son grows increasingly suspicious of his father's popular momo shop, which thrives amidst a series of mysterious disappearances in their town. Forbidden from tasting the 'miraculous' dumplings, the son observes his father's strange behavior, late-night excursions, and disturbing clues like hidden clothing of missing individuals and a blood-like substance. His relentless investigation uncovers a hidden, human-like entity and leads to violent confrontations with his evasive father, whose actions become linked to a wider police inquiry into missing tourists. The son, sometimes named Deep or Danny, unravels a dark web of illicit dealings, a hidden past involving a mysterious woman named Helen, and a shocking family betrayal. The family's momo business becomes implicated in horrifying accusations of using human flesh, forcing the son to confront the devastating truth about his father's double life and question his own identity. The central conflict intensifies as a shrewd CEO, Richard, and later thugs, demand the secret momo recipe, which is rumored to contain a rare ayurvedic herb but is more chillingly accused of containing human flesh. The father, Martin, fiercely guards this horrifying secret, leading to brutal violence and a tragic incident where the son is critically injured, plunging the family into a brutal hostage crisis. Despite pleas from his wife, Li, and the son's despair, Martin refuses to surrender the recipe, hinting at a broader conspiracy. In a desperate attempt to atone and cover medical bills for his injured son, Martin undertakes perilous, illicit missions. The show culminates with Martin revealing the momos' unique taste, which is either human meat, as calmly exposed to extortionists, or from dangerous wild pig hunting, a sacrifice made to fund his son's treatment. This leaves the true nature of the ingredient ambiguous, but highlights the profound parental love and the harsh realities of survival. The son ultimately commits to protecting his father, despite the dark truths uncovered.
