The microdrama begins with Dragon Princess Yu, the living Lotus Fire Scripture, fleeing her father's Dragon Palace after an invasion by the arrogant Sky Army leader Sakra, who seeks the powerful artifact. She is aided by Bailang, a wounded wolf she granted sentience, who yearns to become fully human for her love. Tasked with delivering Yu to the legendary monk Tang Senzang, Bailang becomes her fiercely loyal protector, embracing his demonic strength after his mentor, the Dragon King, dies defending Yu. Tang Senzang, initially disillusioned by past divine betrayals, eventually vows to protect Yu and defy the manipulative gods. Their perilous journey, a new "Journey to the West," is complicated when Bailang inadvertently frees the vengeful Dragon Prince Auzhu, whom Tang had imprisoned for sixteen years, reigniting a bitter conflict. As the pilgrimage continues, Master Tang is captured by a demoness, forcing Bailang to unleash his power for a rescue. Concurrently, the exiled "Dragon Man" Rulei battles flesh-eating monsters and seeks Tang Senzang, revealing a past connection to a woman's vengeful vow. A cosmic war erupts over the Lotus Fire Book, with the supreme divine being Avalokitesvara confronting Tang Senzang and Rulei, his presumed-dead former comrade. Rulei makes a profound sacrifice, entrusting the book's protection to a new generation, Balang and Hauju, amidst divine intrigue and ancient powers. The overarching stakes involve protecting the Lotus Fire Scripture from those who would unleash suffering, defying the manipulative Heavenly Palace, and rectifying past errors.
